what to expect

The Concept
I create a fun, creative and relaxed session to capture the true you.  All sessions take place within your home or at the location of your choice (your backyard, a park, the hospital for newborns, etc).  Conducting the session in a familiar setting is especially good to help children feel more comfortable in front of the camera.  I will take all the time it requires to capture the best expressions and I am willing to reschedule the session if the kids are just not having a good day (I’m the mom of two girls — believe me, I understand).

Clothing Choices
My motto in clothing is keep it simple.  I like to keep the focus on the subject, so simple clothing choices are best for creating timeless portraits.

Families
I highly suggest clothing for each family member that has the same tone, not necessarily the same color.  Try solid colors, avoiding busy patterns or logos/words. Jeans, overalls, slip dresses, and khakis are classics and photograph well.  Bare feet are especially fun, and kids love it too. If you prefer shoes, please make sure they are in good shape and not scuffed.

Babies
Bare skin is my favorites on newborns and babies.  You may have other clothes to put on baby, but keep in mind baby may get grouchy when there are too many clothing changes.  Diaper covers are a great idea too!

Seniors and Kiddos
You may want a trendier look for your session (urban, downtown setting is always fun).  I love the timeless looks in the clothing mentioned above, but also enjoy photographing a session with an edgier feel to it.  I still caution against bold logos.  Please contact me for further questions on clothing.

Proofs
You may view your portraits online a few days following your session.  The page is password protected, so you have discretion of who may view your portraits.
