Luau!

Though she won’t be 5 for a couple of days, we celebrated Maddie’s 5th birthday today with a happy luau in dreary January.  And what luau would be complete without a sand castle and even hula lessons?  Our neighbor had a video entitled "How to be a Hula Girl" and it was a hit!  Also thanks to Aaron for sharing his 32nd birthday — whatta guy.  Happy birthday, my loves!Hula_party_invitation2_copy Img_9933blog Img_9950blog Img_9954blog Img_9987blog Img_0015blog_2 Img_0048blog_1 Aaronbdayblog Sorry, just had to include Aaron’s obligatory "insert-finger-in-nose" picture.

My Latest Project

Img_9866blog_9 Well, my husband was off on business for the week and of course it was time for a new project!  Aaron never knows what to expect when he comes home.  This time I made a window seat, pillows and a blanket.  I’m so pleased with the results, and the girls and I have a new favorite spot to sit and watch the cul de sac and the TV.  Tonka, however, is a bit miffed that his access to the window is blocked — he still hasn’t figured out he can get up on it yet!

My new canvas

Snow Day

Img_9545blog_2 Img_9549blog_1 Img_9569blog_1Img_9746_blog_1 Yet another snow day for the Tacoma area.  It still floors me how easily school is called off here.  In Colorado where I grew up, the school doors would have to blocked by a snowdrift!  Hoping to send my preschooler back to school tomorrow . . .

I’m in!

It’s official, I’m going to give this blog thing a go.  First off, I should probably explain the title.  A few years ago I stumbled across this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson and thought it completely captured how I feel about the most important things in my life — my husband, my girls and my photography.  While they can sometimes torment the heck out of me, at the same time they add such a delicious sweetness and meaningfulness to my life.

Thanks for visiting and keep checking in!
